Nevsky Prospect

The walk is about 3km in length with a view of architectural delights, starting from the Winter Palace of the Palace Square to the end at Alexander Nevsky Lavra. A feast for the eyes and senses; wear comfortable shoes as sidewalks and driveways are still works in progress.

Along Griboedov Canal

A complete contrast to Nevsky Prospect with its Winter and Anichkov Palaces and lavish mansions of the aristocracy; Griboedov Canal embankment is lined with 19th c apartments, once home to merchants, civil servants and the working class.

Fontanka River

This district includes Sheremetev’s Palace on Fontanka is one of the best examples of the monumental embankments and the grandeur of palaces typical of the city.

St Petersburg Bridges

The Venice of the North boasts over 500 bridges ranging from the very narrow pedestrian Lions and Bank chain bridges to the unique medieval styled and the modern Bolshoy Okhtinsky Bridge, and then there are the giant drawbridges which span the wide Neva River. Just to look at them is a delightful treat. Enjoy as many as you wish to walk to.
